I don't do 2:15 AM starts very well but we had a 3:00 AM pick up from our hotel for our flights home. We had our morning coffee and wake up shower and once dressed was ready for the road.
Our taxi driver was 10 minutes early so within no time we were on our way. He knew where all the speed cameras were on the way to the airport with speeds varying between 60 and 140kph.
In no time we were in the departures area and it was extremely busy for that hour of the morning. We got through check in relativley quickly and equally as quick through passport control. We still had an hour before our boarding was due so a walk through duty free and a strong coffee later we were seated and waiting for boarding. The ticket said 4:50 AM boarding for a 5:50 AM departure. At 5:15 we were still waiting for a gate number and were starting to wonder. I went for a walk and there was no FlyDubai plane in sight. Maybe the flight in to Bishkek was running late.
I had to use the toilet as I figured I had plenty of time. I am standing at the urinal doing my business and a cleaning lady comes up along aide of me cleaning the floor. I began to wonder if I was in the right toilet but seeing other men there confirmed it. She seemed unfazed but I am pretty certain she was having a good look around.
Back out in the the departure hall there was still no gate number and it was now departure time 5:50AM.
At 6:30 the gate was finally allocated and open for departure. The plane was 100m from the gate and we had to board a bus to get to the plane. It is funny how they can be so OHS aware for that but lacking in other areas.
We were lucky to have seats close to the front so we could get out quick for our connecting flight.
We arrived at Dubai and made it out fairly quickly and our way to the next gate. As one would expect, it was at the opposite end of the terminal. They have a train to take you there but no one tells you that. We were almost sprinting and made the gate while it still had a final call. It was a waste of time and effort. They had already bumped us from the flight and reallocated our seat. The attendant tried to get us back on but wasnt allowed to. As you might imagine, I was pretty pissed at this point. We went to the Emirates desk where they provided us with a voucher for a hotel room and 3 meal vouchers, courtesy of FlyDubai.
Now we fly out at 2AM and a direct flight to Adelaide. Oh well it just adds to the adventure. Maybe it would gave been quicker to drive.

Our seats did not recline, had no adjustable headrests, no in-flight entertainment and if you want a coffee you have to pay for it. If we ever have to fly with FlyDubai again we will make sure it isnt camel class.
